The Internet Is Frigging Awesome
February 11th, 2008 by Murray Barnes | Posted in Meta, MusicYeah, I don’t know if you realise just how awesome the internet actually is. My day yesterday goes a long way towards showing why that is.
I was chatting to my friend Katie (American) on MSN messenger last night (and really, the thought that I can type something and have it appear instantly on a computer 4,000 miles away blows my mind enough) and we got on to the topic of what I’ll do if I graduate.
She happened to mention the house next door to hers was for sale, perhaps even implying I should buy it and live there so we can court and eventually marry (I know how that woman’s mind works). So, seeing as how I was meant to be working on my honours project, I thought I’d try and use the internet to find out how much the house would cost me.
I could not find that house in particular, but I did find lots of “interesting” information about the city of of manchester, GA. for example, of the 13 foreign born members of the city’s population, 100% of them are german.
there were also incredible charts, such as this one:

Now, as awesome as this information is, it’s not quite enough to say that the internet is awesome. I’m sure with dedicated research I could have found that without the internet. but, without the internet the following could not take place.
I wrote a blog post about seeing Kirsty McGee live and how awesome that was. Yesterday, I got an e-mail from Mat Martin, he of the banjo in the hobopop collective, thanking me for writing nice things about them, and offering to send me a free CD. So, with the internet, say things are nice, get them for free.
Did I ever mention how nice naked supermodels are?
